Dark Glasses
For a horror film from an 82-year old, I find that pretty impressive. The new film from Italian horror legend Dario Argento is for SURE far from perfect. There's a fair amount of gaffes on screen, the casting was off - specifically with the killer (no dynamism whatsoever), and there's awkward, cringey moments abound throughout. But above it all, it's clear Argento still has that vision, that style of his. But is he able to execute it as well? It's hard to tell if there were budgetary issues that need to be factored in, but on its face it appears the answer to that question is NO. There's something charming here however, and sincere, and the effort to recapture that magic definitely feels present, in my view. If you're a fan or familiar with Argento (my favorite is Tenebrae - amazing), I recommend it. If you're not, see Tenebrae and then go from there.
