Peter Strickland

Flux Gourmet

Snoozer.

Director Peter Strickland's last film, 'In Fabric,' was one of my favorite films of 2018, but I wasn't entirely sold on him as a director. Even though he also triumphed by translating Björk's Biophilia tour to the screen for a 2014 concert film, I wasn't sold. And with Flux Gourmet, now I know why. Not that this is a bad film by any means; I'm willing to bet there's a small, niche audience for this, but it most definitely isn't me. It felt like a Yorgos Lanthimos film, such as 'The Lobster' for example, but not as unpleasant. Nothing felt relatable, the plot was unreasonably out there, the characters made me uncomfortable. I do NOT recommend this film, but I do recommend 'In Fabric' if you're curious about this Strickland fella.
