Happy Gilmore 2

The price is wrong, bitch.

Screened on Netflix I don't want to waste too much energy with this one, so it's bullet point time.

POSITIVES

-About 85% of this felt like a sincere sequel, a sincere extension of the original

-I did laugh a couple times, even though it was far less than the original. This is a positive as not only was I expecting far less, I was expecting the Netflix treatment would leave me angered

-It was nice to see Sandler showcasing his acting chops a bit. He's had a couple great lead roles (Uncut Gems, Punch Drunk Love), so I enjoyed that being utilized a bit here.

-I thought it was a nice touch to have at least three of his kids in roles as his fictional kids

NEGATIVES

-A two-hour running time was a bit too much for this kind of movie

-Too much reliance on "cameos"

-Too much bringing back previous characters just for nostalgia hits

-Too much bringing back previous characters even when they're dead. Even if all they could safely do was gravesites, they were more than willing. While not totally tasteless, it just felt cheap

-I know most people hate Caddyshack II, but ironically, while I am a big fan, in this context I have to use this comparison in a negative way: The third act of this felt very similar to the third act of Caddyshack II, mostly during the final golf showdowns of both films. Are they even aware how low they've sunk? LOL
