Lady Chatterley's Lover

It's crazy how Netflix makes films that are more graphic than the scrambled porn my generation (or age bracket?) had on cable back in the day. Glimpses of breasts, derrières, pipe-sized johnsons, all peaking through walls of TV static experiencing a 10.0 shaker.

Besides the fact this flick 100% delivers on the reason EVERYONE is watching this to begin with - S E X U A L I N T E R C O U R S E - it rises above the level of soft porn with solid casting on the leads, who make their courtship completely believable. It's not exactly a high bar to reach considering the material, but let's be honest, not all the adaptations of this D.H. Lawrence novel have been what we would call "successful," so this one has to get good marks for checking that box. It's also clear Netflix didn't invest a whole lot here; even by standards of it just being a "period drama," it looks a bit cheap besides the lovely settings of England and Wales which help fill in the gaps left by poor investment. But the film makes the best of it. It's hot. It's pretty to look at. Leads are great. Good, cheesy, fun escapism with a happy ....... ending. Ugh.
