Marshmallow

Does it leave you wanting s'more?

This was a pleasant surprise, in that it wasn't awful, or even close to it. The very clear intention with Marshmallow was to mix things up with the rather specific genre of 80s summer camp slashers. Whether it was fully executed as well as it could have is certainly up for a healthy debate, but not on the mission of throwing something fresh into the genre and seeing how it goes.

While I don't see myself checking this out more than this once, and no it was not, IMHO, executed well, especially the third act. But I highly recommend giving it a try if you're into that genre of horror. What brings the film together is the casting with the two main kids, both normal, relatable and sweet characters that quietly come to life rather perfectly thanks to the performances which, if you can't get into this film overall, will at least get you through to the end.

A light recommendation for genre fans.
