My Best Friend's Exorcism

For the first half, my thought was this simply wasn't made for me - I am not the audience this was made for - and that's fair. However, during the second half my mood soured to thinking this wasn't made for ANY audience. But that's NOT fair. For whatever reason, I don't feel entirely comfortable rating this movie because I know there IS an audience for this, but it's just really hard to figure out. It feels like a kids movie, and yet it's R-rated and filled to the brim with 80s "nostalgia" that will go right over the heads of young audiences. I guess the point is, overall this feels like a pretty messy film, which is a disservice to the source material from author Grady Hendrix, who has some cool books in his oeuvre that are definitely worth checking out.
